ANTONIO GABRIEL

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Chicago.

My current research (with Robert E. Lucas Jr.) studies an economy where agents learn by interactions and decide on how much to invest in education. The model gives rise to sustained economic growth and age-earnings profiles that are consistent with empirical regularities observed in US census data.

My previous research examines the impact of differential tax treatment to cash and credit in a monetary economy with search frictions. I study the impact of taxation on the existence of a monetary equilibrium, the equilibrium price of currency, and its implications for economic activity.

I will be available for interviews in January 2020 at the ASSA meeting in San Diego.
